Glen McMicken has extensive experience in coaching, administration, data and timing services for track and field, having worked at local, national and international meets since the early 1980s.
He currently serves as an assistant track and field coach at Houston Baptist University.
A self-confessed track and field "journeyman" with more than 20 years of involvement in the sport at all levels, McMicken has served as a collegiate coach, media relations specialist, statistician and official. He was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Southwest Texas State, and at Texas-San Antonio before becoming head women's coach at Wisconsin-Stout in 1990. McMicken also served as Sports Information Director at UW-Stout, and was an assistant SID at Southwest Texas.
In 1995, McMicken joined the national staff of USA Track & Field as a media relations assistant, a position he held until 1999 when he returned to Texas. During his four years at USATF, McMicken served as press box coordinator for numerous national championships, including the 1996 Olympic Trials. He also helped design and implement the first USATF web site in 1996, acting as webmaster until his departure.
McMicken serves as a consultant to USATF on youth and junior track and field. He also consults on statistical projects for the Communications department.
